Discovering Hooper Family History

The Hooper Connections website, that has been running since 2002, will be coming down soon. The monthly cost has been soaring for some time now. Many of the original contributors have passed on. Mail lists and Chat forums are defunct. Contact email addresses no longer work - including my own previous address. It's been a struggle to justify keeping the site up and running - limping along. I'm just beginning to build this website (Oct 2025). Please be patient while I learn a new web building program. Thank you!

It seems now as if it were all part of another lifetime. The years pile up and fold into decades of what once burned bright in memory recedes into the more remote pockets of recollection. We treat the past as if it were a vault in which events can be stored and preserved against the incursions of time. Time stakes its claim. Memory is an untrustworthy guide. It can be elusive and tricky. The tale, cast anew each time, becomes transformed in the telling. The facts of course, are always the same; it is the way we see them and feel about them that changes.
